The whole idea of getting an image makeover can feel a little overwhelming. How do you go about it, how much will it cost and which stylist do you choose or do you even need a stylist? Hopefully by the end of this video, you will feel a lot less overwhelmed and you will have a clearer idea of what you need and how to get it.
1. DIY makeover: There is a lot of information on the internet and on Youtube. You can use these options to get great free tips on how to dress for your body shape, outfit ideas, makeup tutorials etc. Do some searching around for a channel that you relate to and then binge watch their channel. If the channel makes use of playlists, then it’s even easier as they usually have playlists of various topics of interest. If you enjoy this channel, then feel free to use it as your resource to finding a look that works for you.
2. Ask a trusted friend for help: You may have a friend who always looks good. Maybe that friend can give you some tips. Ask her to go shopping with you. She or he may choose items for you to try on that you never thought would work, but they do. Just make sure that your friend isn’t trying to make you another her and that she can be totally honest, but gentle.
3. Look for a professional: There are a lot of stylists out there and there are different ways of working. Since it’s such a personal thing, you need to find a stylist that you resonate with, that you think you will feel comfortable with. Visit their websites, read some of their articles, if they have videos on Youtube, watch those. Get a feel of the person and how they work. You may have various options:
Online image makeovers: This is often a cost effective option and it takes less time. These are usually done via skype, but if you are more a one-on-one kind of person, then consider a more personal approach
Group makeovers: You may want to do this with a trusted friend. This can be very beneficial as you can learn from each other.
One-on-one Image makeovers: This is usually more in-depth option, but even then, there may be various options. Consider all the options and choose what suits you best.
Shopping destination image makeover: This is where you can go to a shopping destination city, meet the stylist there and come back with your whole new you. This is usually a bit more expensive, but it may just be worth it for the experience.
